Three Services, Applied with Care
Each service at Orison Temps addresses a specific need. We do not offer a broad menu — instead, we do a smaller number of things at a standard we are comfortable putting our name to.
Return to HomepageHow We Approach Each Service
Every service begins with an assessment. We look at the watch, identify what needs attention, and discuss our findings with you before proceeding. Pricing is agreed before work starts. If the scope changes, you are informed before we continue. The finished watch is accompanied by a written record of what was done. That process applies whether the service takes half a day or ten working days.
Watch Band Sizing
A well-fitted bracelet changes how a watch feels to wear — and how it sits on the wrist during the day. This service adjusts a metal bracelet to your wrist by removing or adding links as needed, setting the clasp micro-adjuster to its midpoint, and inspecting the spring bars for signs of fatigue or wear.
For bracelets with screw-link construction, each pin is checked for proper torque and engagement. The finish of the bracelet is not affected during work. The service is typically completed within one working day, and the watch can usually be collected same-day if brought in early.
What's included
- Link removal or addition as needed
- Clasp micro-adjuster set to centre position
- Spring bar inspection and replacement if fatigued
- Screw-link pin torque check (where applicable)
Date Mechanism Repair
The date complication is one of the more mechanically active parts of a watch movement — it cycles every twenty-four hours, and its components wear accordingly. When the date wheel stops advancing correctly, sits off-centre, or becomes erratic around midnight, the underlying cause is usually a worn jumper spring, driving finger, or date wheel itself.
This service involves examining each component of the date train, replacing worn parts, and verifying the function by observing several complete midnight transitions. For quickset date watches, the corrector mechanism is also tested for clean engagement. The movement otherwise remains intact — this is not a full service, and we do not open what does not need opening.
What's included
- Date wheel, jumper spring, and driving finger inspection
- Replacement of worn or damaged components
- Midnight transition verification (multiple cycles)
- Quickset corrector engagement test where applicable
- Written summary of work completed
Museum-Grade Preservation
Some watches are not worn daily — they are kept as display pieces, held as investments, or stored for eventual inheritance. This service is designed for those pieces. Rather than treating them as items that need repair, it treats them as objects that deserve careful documentation, conservative cleaning, and appropriate long-term storage.
The service begins with a full condition survey and macro photography of every external surface. The movement is inspected without disassembly unless a fault is found that requires attention. Exposed metal surfaces receive archival-grade protection. The watch is returned in a controlled-environment sealed pouch with a detailed condition report and a set of care recommendations for ongoing storage. This record has value in its own right — it establishes a documented condition baseline at a specific point in time.
What's included
- Full condition survey with macro photography
- Conservative cleaning of case, crystal, and bracelet surfaces
- Movement inspection without disassembly (unless fault found)
- Archival-grade protection applied to exposed metals
- Return in controlled-environment sealed pouch
- Detailed written condition report with care recommendations

Shared Standards Across All Services
Security & Responsibility
Each watch in our care is documented, stored securely, and insured against loss or damage while on the premises.
Diagnostic First
We assess before we act. No components are removed or replaced without understanding why they need attention.
Client Approval Required
Any change to agreed scope requires your approval before we proceed. This applies to parts, additional work, and timing changes.
Accuracy Verification
Where movement work is performed, accuracy is tested before return. Results are noted in the service record.
Original Parts Where Possible
We source manufacturer-original or equivalent-specification parts. We do not substitute lower-grade components to reduce cost without your knowledge.
Follow-Up Available
If a concern arises after collection, contact us. We will look at it without additional charge if the issue relates to work we performed.
Not Sure Which Service Applies?
Describe what is happening with your watch and we will point you in the right direction. There is no charge for this conversation, and no obligation to proceed.
